What is Charity Smackdown?
PayPal wants you to lay the Smackdown on your favorite charity! Donate via your favorite charity's PayPal widget on this site or on Facebook from October 16, 2009 at 10 AM PT until October 17, 2009 at 3 PM PDT, and help raise as much money as possible for your favorite charity!
How many times can I donate?
You may donate for a specific non-profit as many times as you’d like. Just click the “Donate” button on the PayPal widget and make your donation! Note that a PayPal account is not required for you to make a donation through the widget, which also handles credit card transactions.
How do I support Charity Smackdown?
Donate! Tell your friends to donate. Spread the word on Facebook and Twitter!
What are the requirements for organizations to participate?
The top ten winning non-profits from the Name Your Cause contest
(see www.nameyourcause.com) were asked to participate. All participating organizations are registered non-profits with the IRS and have PayPal accounts.
How will non-profit winners be determined and notified?
Donations can be made from October 16 at 10 AM PDT until 3 PM PDT on October 17, 2009. At that time, the three non-profits that have raised the most money via their designated PayPal widget on Facebook or on charitysmackdown.com, win! In the event of a tie (in which two or more charities receive the same amount in donations), the winners shall be decided by a tie breaker: the winner shall be the charity whose last donation was first received. All non-profit winners will be notified by a sponsor representative (who are considered the judges of the contest). Winners will be contacted within three (3) days of winner selection and prizes will be delivered once the winners have been certified as eligible.
What does each non-profit winner receive?
The three non-profit organizations that raise the most money in donations during the contest will be awarded prizing from PayPal as follows: Grand Prize $2,000; Second Prize: $1,000; Third Prize: $500. Prizes cannot be substituted or transferred.
