LA's BEST - Better Educated Students for Tomorrow - is a nationally recognized after school education, enrichment and recreation program serving more than 28,000 children with the greatest needs and fewest resources throughout the City of Los Angeles. LA's BEST After School Enrichment Program provides a safe haven for children ages 5 to 12 at 180 elementary school sites each day during the critical hours after school - at no cost to parents. Established in 1988, LA's BEST is a partnership including the City of Los Angeles, the Los Angeles Unified School District and the private sector. For more information, please visit www.lasbest.org.
We’re Looking Forward to BlogWorld
LA's BEST After School Enrichment Program is relatively new to the social networking community and still trying to build up support and visibility in the arena. Most important to the organization is increasing awareness about the program in online communities and turning this awareness into support in the way of volunteering, donations and participation in fundraising events.
We are also launching a viral campaign in mid-November and would like to learn how best to go about maximizing it's potential. We are eager to learn about how blogging can be an asset to our organization especially when it comes to policy issues in the after school arena - ideally, we would be able to get advisement on the incorporation of this on our website. Finally, we want to learn how to best mobilize our current young professionals network using the social networking and blogging platforms.
